A dream that started in the heart of a young lady, Gladys Hinson, in 1944 is now a 65-acre campus of caring homes, wonderful amenities and staff filled with the love of Jesus Christ. COMPACT Hillcrest Children's Home continues to redeem the life and future of the fatherless and fragmented and today spans beyond residential ministries.
Hillcrest is a private Christian residential child care campus located in Hot Springs, AR as the national Assemblies of God child care ministry to abused, neglected, and sexually exploited children.
Our mission is to redeem the fatherless and family through compassion in action.
Referrals come from the state, pastors, private placements, court ordered, churches, friends of Hillcrest, and relatives of hurting children. Boys and girls come to Hillcrest having experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or the divorce or death of their parents. The caring Christian environment at Hillcrest is designed to demonstrate love to these broken children and youth.
Children and youth (ages 5-18), grouped by age and gender, are provided a homelike atmosphere (the multiple homes on campus are referred to as Hillcrest Cottages) with balanced diets, proper clothing, medical/dental/optical checkups to ensure their physical well-being. The children attend school and are members of a local Assemblies of God church. A loving home environment, daily devotions, Biblical counseling, chapel services, and regular church attendance minister to their spiritual needs. Hillcrest also has a College Fund available for Hillcrest senior high students as they pursue their next level of education following high school graduation. The COMPACT Campus now includes the newly constructed Transitional Living Center for graduates of Hillcrest (18 and over) and students in the court system (18 and over).
