** HIGHLANDS EXPANDS TO INCLUDE BULIMIA RECOVERY MINISTRYThe addition of two new homes for Hillcrest Children's Home has allowed the Assemblies of God Family Services Agency's Highlands Ministry to move into a former Hillcrest two-story building. This
building, formerly occupied by Hillcrest, allows Highlands to double its ministry capacity to a 24- resident dorm facility for young women and teens.

Along with remodeling the physical plant, Highlands continues to grow under the direction of its new director, Mary Michels. Rev. Michels is the wife of the AGFSA Administrator Robert J. Michels and has served Highlands in the capacity of Program Coordinator for over 7 years while the ministry was located in Kansas City, MO. In addition, she has served the AG Fellowship in various ministries since 1989. She not only brings a wealth of experience back to the ministry but states, "God has put everything in place from degreed counselors, medical experts, to loving house managers and caseworkers. With the additional funds from the challenge (Highlands expansion), we'll be headed in the right direction. We are excited for what the Lord has in store."
Some have asked why Highlands is moving to minister to bulimics since it has existed as the adoption ministry and materntiy home for the Assemblies since 1964. Michels added, "It is because the need exists in our churches. We have surveyed youth pastors and women leaders across our fellowship as to the need. They have responded overwhelmingly that the need is "great" among Assemblies of God and the Church as a whole, for such a ministry."
The move into the new facility began the first days of 2009. Already there are continuing inquiries for the bulimic side of Highlands from all over the country. Those entering Highlands for either an unexpected pregnancy or fighting bulimia will find a Pentecostal welcome from caring, understanding people dedicated to building a young woman's faith and the healing process of the body, soul, and spirit.
