Robert Michels, an ordained minister with the AG since 1996 (licensed in 1990), serves as Administrator of Assemblies of God Family Services Agency overseeing Hillcrest Children’s Home, Highlands Ministries, and AG Family Services Adoption Agency.

Michels brings over twenty years of experience to these childcare ministries. After serving as director of the former national AG Benevolences office since 1999, he is keenly aware of the challenges facing today’s children, youth and families. From 1991 to 1999, Michels and his wife, Mary, served as administrators to Highlands Child Placement Services and Maternity Home, which was then located on a 12-acre campus in Kansas City, Missouri.

Michels was appointed to serve as AGFSA Administrator by the AG Executive Presbytery in October 2005. Prior to this appointment, Michels had oversight of Highlands Child Placement Services, Hillcrest Children’s Home, AG Disaster Relief and Aged Minister’s Assistance for the Assemblies of God.

From 1988 to 1991, he served in the AG Office of Public Relations. Before full-time ministry, Michels served as vice president of Backwoods Equipment Company, a chain of high-end outdoor specialty stores. He holds an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and a M.A.T.S. degree from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.

Michels’ ministry has a distinct missions emphasis: compassion, care, evangelism, discipleship and restoring broken lives and families. His vision has helped meet today’s growing need for Christian residential childcare and residential campus development in today’s ever-changing culture. Michels and his wife, Mary, have two married daughters and four grandchildren. Mrs. Michels is a credentialed minister with the AG and serves as  AGFSA graphic/web designer and media coordinator.

“Our mission is the renewal of life through the restoring of families to a biblical model, building children/youth/young women up in the name of Jesus, and saving infants from hands that shed innocent blood.”    ~Robert Michels
